Cage Challenger

The Cage promotion continues it's fast rise to the top of european MMA by introducing a new event series "Cage Challenger". Like the name of the series implies, Cage Challenger was set up to give young fighters and prospects a chance to display their skills in a suitable environment.

Cage Challenger poster is weird (no skulls, flames or pitbulls), but I like it.

The first event of Cage Challenger takes place on 18th of September in Riihimäki, Finland.
Check out the full fight card and event information at MMAFinland.fi

In the main event the hard hitting finn Timo "Berserk" Suhonen defends his Cage Middleweight Championship belt against currently undefeated Mats Nilsson of Sweden. Suhonen earned a decision victory in his last fight after a grueling fight while Nilsson scored an impressive TKO win in his last bout at the Cage 13. Finland versus Sweden always produces great fights and I don't think this one will be an exception of the rule.

Besides the main event there are couple of very interesting fights. Ville "Penalty Shot" Yrjölä takes on another swede Martin Svensson. Both guys are very good grapplers so this fight could play out to be a great display of quality ground work. Another fight, that you should check out if you get a chance, is GB Gym's Joonas Niemelä's bout against Aleksi Kainulainen of FFG. Niemelä is a very talented young prospect with superb athletic abilities. It'll interesting to see how he deals with Kainulainen, who hails for the famous Finn Fighters Gym.

I'll attend this event and write a short event report afterwards.
